We are proud to partner with our client, a highly respected name in the housebuilding sector, to recruit an experienced Planner. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing all facets of the planning system, supporting the successful delivery of high-quality developments.

Our client’s Planning teams handle everything from shaping planning policy and promoting strategic land to managing the development process and implementing community engagement strategies. This role will allow you to contribute to immediate and long-term planning projects of varying scales while working closely with internal teams, local authorities, and community stakeholders.

 

About the Role:
As a Planner, you’ll be involved in identifying future land acquisition opportunities, formulating planning strategies, managing consultant teams, and preparing documents for planning applications. You’ll work collaboratively with land, technical, commercial, and sales teams to ensure projects progress efficiently, while also liaising with planning authorities, local stakeholders, and residents.

You’ll be responsible for managing ongoing planning applications, producing the required documentation, submitting applications, and ensuring their progress. You’ll also liaise directly with planning authorities and statutory consultees to respond to feedback and discharge conditions.

In addition, you’ll take ownership of engaging with the community and promoting the values, policies, and procedures of the organization while identifying opportunities to enhance existing sites and progressing necessary planning applications.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of planning applications and ensure timely submissions.
  • Draft required planning documents, coordinate with consultants, and collate technical information to support applications.
  • Liaise with planning authorities and consultees to ensure successful application outcomes.
  • Oversee external consultant teams involved in planning applications or land promotions.
  • Collaborate with internal project teams to enhance existing sites and progress relevant planning activities.
  • Engage with local communities to support planning strategies and foster positive relationships.

 

What We’re Looking For:
The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in planning or a related field and ideally be working toward RTPI membership or be a Chartered Surveyor.
  • Prior experience in planning policy, development management, or a similar role within a local authority, housebuilder, or private consultancy.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and project management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • A proactive, self-managing attitude with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workloads effectively.
