About the Role
Potensis Selection is partnering with a leading residential developer to recruit a Senior Planning Manager to join their North Home Counties team. This is a pivotal role within the business, offering an exciting opportunity to lead the planning function for a range of high-profile residential developments.
As Senior Planning Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the planning process, from initial land appraisals through to securing permissions and managing planning conditions. Working closely with the land, design, and technical teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects that meet the company’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning strategy for multiple residential development projects, ensuring compliance with local and national planning policies while aligning with the company’s business goals.
- Manage the preparation and submission of planning applications, working collaboratively with internal teams and external consultants to secure timely approvals.
- Oversee the negotiation of planning conditions and Section 106 agreements, maintaining effective relationships with local authorities and other stakeholders to achieve favourable outcomes.
- Conduct detailed planning appraisals for new land opportunities, identifying risks and opportunities to inform acquisition and development decisions.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management, providing regular updates on planning progress and supporting the delivery of the company’s growth objectives.
About You
We are seeking an experienced planning professional with a strong track record in residential development. The ideal candidate will have:
- Extensive experience in planning management, preferably within the housebuilding sector or working on large-scale residential projects.
- A thorough understanding of the UK planning system, including local and national policy frameworks, Section 106 agreements, and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) regulations.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, consultants, and stakeholders.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Relevant qualifications in Town Planning, Urban Design, or a related discipline, with membership in the RTPI or an equivalent professional body preferred.
