About the Role:
As a Senior Estimator, you will be integral to the preconstruction process, contributing to every stage from feasibility and cost planning to tendering and value engineering. This role involves producing detailed cost estimates for residential developments, assessing specifications, and evaluating potential risks and opportunities to ensure the financial and operational viability of projects.

You will work closely with preconstruction, design, technical, and commercial teams to align cost estimates with project requirements, ensuring a seamless transition from preconstruction to delivery. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members and support the continuous improvement of estimating processes and practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the preparation of detailed cost estimates for residential developments, supporting all aspects of the preconstruction process.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to assess specifications, evaluate design solutions, and identify value engineering opportunities.
  • Analyse tender documents, market trends, and construction methodologies to ensure cost plans reflect current conditions and risks.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure accuracy in estimates.
  • Present budgets and cost estimates to senior management, offering expert advice and recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development of preconstruction strategies and processes to drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.

 

What We’re Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as an Estimator, with a proven track record in preconstruction, ideally within a residential developer or contractor environment. You should be detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Key attributes include:

  • Strong experience in producing detailed cost estimates and managing the preconstruction process.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction costs, procurement, and market trends.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and relevant IT tools.
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach with the ability to influence stakeholders effectively.
  • A relevant qualification in construction, quantity surveying, or a related field.
